A number of events will take place in Bristol this summer/autumn, in solidarity with land rights marches taking place in India in October. The marches are being coordinated by Ekta Parishad, a Gandhi-inspired Indian social movement which organises for land, water and forestry rights. In October this year, 100,000 landless and homeless people will be marching 300km from Gwalior to Delhi, in part to make particular demands on the Indian government, and in part as a mass mobilisation of people for alternative forms of self-government.
There are a few (free!) events it would be great to support – please come!
- 1st Sept : Satish Kumar will open the photo exhibition with a talk @ Hamilton House, from 7pm
- 1st – 14th Sept: An exhibition of photos will be held @ Hamilton House Gallery
- 6th Oct: Pad Yatra – We’ll be organising a solidarity foot march between Bristol and Bath, with a picnic. Leaving Temple Meads station at 10am.
