In the RTF spirit of supporting projects within our constellation we are calling out for Reclaim the Fields to have a winter base at Grow Heathrow – the squatted community growing project in West London under threat of eviction.
As autumn comes to an end and winter is creeping in, its time to leave the tools in the shed, let the ground rest and for us to gather around a burner, drink lots of tea and of course plot and plan Reclaim the Fields actions, gatherings and networking for next year.
The winter is a good chance to catch up with each other, celebrate and share the success of our projects and growing season and look forward to the following year. It will give us time to review the last year of the Reclaim the Fields network here in the UK and also the wider European network, from gatherings in London and Bristol to the European camp in Romania – we have a lot to talk about. But we also still have lots to do.
While drawing on support from our local community here in the Heathrow villages we are also calling on the wider movement of food growers and land rights activists across the UK to come join us to skill up on how we can defend our community growing spaces.
During this time Grow Heathrow can also act as a space for Reclaim the Fields to network between projects and people and build on some of the working groups which have emerged this year like the Reclaim the Seeds and Access to Land.
We encourage people who have only recently heard about RTF and want to know know more to come and get involved this winter, meet others in preparation for the practical work that awaits us in the spring. All are welcome at Grow Heathrow!
Grow Heathrow is up in court on the 17th November, find out more of events how you can get involved pre and post court here. Spread the word, bring your friends!
We have sleeping space but its best to bring a tent and sleeping bag, warm clothes directions to the site here.
More information on Reclaim the Fields day event coming soon… Resistance really is Fertile!
